I won't automatically sketch a statue or a piece of sculpture just because it's there, but I'll often sketch one if either I like it, or I find something interesting about it.
Prague
Statue of King Charles IV of Bohemia. He also became the Holy Roman Emperor. Interesting guy, who became King after his dad was killed at Crecy. European alliances are nothing new, apparently. He is the Charles after whom the Charles Bridge is named.
Berlin
This is a memorial to Haydn, Beethoven and Mozart in the Tiergarten in Berlin. I didn't even know it was there, and being as I fancied a sit down, I sketched it then and there.
Kaunas
The pedestrianised Liesvas Aleja has several statues of prominent former citizens. This is Jonas Vileisis, former mayor of Kaunas, and an important figure in the movement for independence at the end of World War One.

UK statues often provide a good subject for sketching during a closer to home day out sketchcrawl. Cardiff's National Museum of Wales is well worth a day's sketchcrawl all to itself.

Swansea's Marina is well served with public Art, and these two statues stand close to the Waterfront museum, celebrating the life and work of one of the city's most illustrious sons, Dylan Thomas.

I really like the work of Sebastien Boyesen. This is called "Mortal Coil" and it pays tribute to the relationship between the town of Port Talbot, and the steelworks around which it has grown.
