Belgium 2016

This was the first European trip which had anything to do with sketching. Actually the main purpose of the trip was to pay my respects at my great Grandfather's grave in the Voormezeele war Cemetery in Ieper. However I did make a couple of sketches while I was there: -

The magnificent Cloth Hall. HB pencil.

Detail from the façade of the Cloth Hall. Parker biro

Menin Gate - HB Pencil
I'd only just discovered Urban Sketching when I made these, and felt rather self conscious open air sketching in public. However the reaction of the few people who reacted at all was very encouraging, and I soon found myself enjoying the experience.
